I tried to aim my idea of spending summer hiking in Haute-Savoie… which was really not easy, but a few days ended up being really nice!
The first days back home, there was a chance of going on a stroll along the lake in Annecy.
I went to the col des Aravis and hiked l’Arrête de Plachaux with a friend from high school who was at this time on a break from his travel in Australia (where it is too flat, so the view from the col des Aravis was needed!), and we also had a recovery dinner with local food…
I had the wonderful chance to meet my OZMum and family! Pam, Amy and Barbara came to visit a bit of Europe, a bit of France, and we could meet a few times! We went to the cold des Aravis as well, for the view on the Mont Blanc, we went to the col de la Forclaz for the view above the lake and eating a cheese fondue, we went cheese shopping in Thônes (heeeeeaaaaapppppsss of cheese), eating crèpes and galettes from Britany in the old town… and catch up with the news (and the surprise of having little Amy as tall as me now!! 3 years ago you were so smaller!!!)
My aunt likes hiking and she is the one giving me all the tips about where to go, and usually I would go with her for the first time… so we went to the Dent des Portes (1932m), when Alex was also visiting. The Bauges are beautiful.
And also part of summer, I went to do some smaller hikes or strolls around…
I also went hiking with my aunt and god son to the Petite Sambuy. Unfortunately it got quite foggy when we got there and had to go down early.
Well, there are still so many things to do and to see… hope the begining of automn will be nice!
What beautiful reminders of our trip to your lovely France. The Lake Annecy is an extraordinary place with gorgeous mountains …. the bells of the cows … of course the lake … we took 2 ferry rides and still wanted more… a lovely old town, FABulous food … my favourite restuarant … and lots of amazing (truly!!) cheese. We are still eating our way through the freezer of cheese! Catching up with you Agnes was a highlight, we loved walking up in the mountains and chatting over lunch whilst perched high above the lake. I was so full from the fondue … but still had to have more … you cant take it home! I hope that we get back there to do some hiking ourselves and maybe camp at the lake.
Enjoy your Autumn … nights are still cold here with lovely sunny days.
