2013/07/04 – Essen to Malmö

After a resting day in Essen (and buying beers and other alcohols), we met with Petteri and Fernanda in Cologne (friends from the trip in Chile!).

We planned to leave in the morning around 7:30 ish but while I was reattaching the passenger wiper, the arm of the wiper dropped and then made a star on my windscreen… The time to call the companies to try to fix or change the windscreen, to get an proper advice from a professionnal and buy a new wiper, we were on the road around 10:45.

The broken part of the windscreen would most probably grow during the trip, but the windscreen would stay safe for driving thousands of kilometers. Then, I will take care of this later, after holiday.

So, we kept driving (and waiting in traffic jams) through Germany, up to Puttgarden, to meet with the sea and get into a ferry to Denmark. After 45 minutes on the ferry, we were on Danish ground. A few kilometers later, the car reached the 333 333 km!!!

We crossed Denmark and arrived south of Copenhagen. Then, we crossed the expected Øresund Bridge… that started in a tunnel… pretty UNexpected! The first 4 kms are a tunnel, then we got out on the island in the middle, and crossed the huge bridge… it lasts probably 10 minutes and costs 47€… :-/ Then, we did it!

We stopped before Malmö to spend the night in a camping (way too expensive for a camping) and we could see the bridge in the evening.

More driving through Sweden to get to Uppsala the next day, then a long resting night (despite the day light that never ends) is needed!
